RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Union University baseball team led 2-0, 7-3, and never again on Tuesday, ultimately falling 14-10 to Arkansas Tech's Wonder Boys in midweek play.
Union (11-19, 5-14 away) out-hit ATU (15-14, 9-2 home) but allowed two third-inning blasts–one for two runs, the other for three–and never recovered after the hosts plated seven in the frame.
The Bulldogs lost for the first time in 2025 when collecting 12 or more hits and moved to 1-11 when allowing at least nine runs.
Grant Ross, who never failed to reach base in five attempts, had three hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch and extended his on-base streak to 13 games.
Carson Chavies has reached in 18 straight after finishing with a walk and a single.
Union sent seven arms to the mound, including
Judson Bjornstad in his baseball debut. He and
Ethan Orwig pitched scoreless innings in relief.
Union falls to 0-9 against the GAC foe since 2012 and has allowed no fewer than seven runs in any meeting.
The Bulldogs will roll on in GSC action this weekend at West Alabama (16-15, 10-8) with a Friday single game (5:00 p.m.) and Saturday doubleheader (1:00 p.m.).
