No. 9/9 Lady Bulldogs win 107-69 over Miles in Region Quarterfinals

JACKSON, Tenn. - On Friday night, the No. 9/9 Union University women's basketball team won 107-69 over Miles College in the NCAA D2 Region Quarterfinals to advance to the Region Semifinals on Saturday. It was the seventh time this season that the Lady Bulldogs have scored at least 100 points. With the victory, Union improves to 30-3 overall, while Miles finishes their season 22-7 overall.

Union took the lead 30 seconds into the first quarter after Olivia Lee made a layup in the paint, and the team never looked back, scoring 24 points in both the first and third quarters, 28 in the second, and 31 in the fourth. Miles almost matched Union's fourth period total with 27 points of their own, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit with Union securing the 38-point win.

Thirteen of the 14 Lady Bulldogs who played in the game scored at least two points, and five put up double digits, including Olivia Lee with 15, Keisharna Lucas with 12, and Alexis Callins, Emily Jones, and Bethany Dillard with 11 apiece. As a team, Union shot 53.8 percent (42-78) from the field, 46.2 percent (18-39) from beyond the arc, and 83.3 percent (5-6) from the free throw line.

In addition to scoring the second-most points for Union, Lucas also grabbed the most rebounds and steals with six and four, respectively. Jazalyn Anousinh led the team in assists, dishing out four. Courtney Zensen and Jeremia Montgomery accounted for Union's two blocks as they put up one each.

Iemyiah Harris led Miles with 22 points, and Feliah Greer grabbed the most boards for the team with seven. Overall, Miles shot 29.3 percent (22-75) from the field, 19.2 percent (5-26) from three-point range, and 71.4 percent (20-28) from the foul line.

Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will face GSC-rival Lee University in the Region Semifinals. This will be the third meeting of the two teams this season with each team beating the other once during the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for Mar. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
