No. 22 Union sinks 17 3-pointers in bounce back win at MC

CLINTON, Miss. - The Union University women's basketball team posted a 113-72 victory at Mississippi College Saturday afternoon. Union, ranked No. 22 in the WBCA poll and sporting a 75-poll streak of top 25 rankings, improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Mississippi College dropped to 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in league play. 
 
Union and MC played a close first quarter, where MC held its largest lead of four points early. Union started to take over with a 22-15 lead at the end of one. 

The Lady Bulldogs then caught fire, scoring 91 points over the final three quarters. Union led 52-37 at the half. And then outscored MC 61-35 in the second half to cruise to the 41-point victory. Union shot 50 percent from the field in the second half. Union led by as many as 42 points late in the fourth quarter. 

Eleven players scored for Union, including five players in double figures. Olivia Lee led with 24 points and eight rebounds. Courtney Zensen added 15 points, all coming on her five 3-pointers. Abigail Bryan also scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Aryn Roberts scored 14 points, and La'Sonja Hill added 13 points.  

Union shot 44 percent from the field, 40 percent (17-43) from long range, and 89 percent (24-27) from the free throw line. 

MC was led by Sketoe with 20 points. The Choctaws shot 39 percent from the field, 16 percent (3-19) from 3-point range, and 61 percent (17-28) from the foul line. 

Up next for Union will be the first of three home games before the Christmas break. Union will face GSC foe Christian Brothers, Saturday, December 13, at 2 p.m. at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
