Union men cruise in final non-conference game of regular season

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 92-60 win over Blue Mountain Christian University Thursday night in the final non-conference game of the regular season. Union improved to 5-3 on the season, while Blue Mountain Christian dropped to 2-10. 

Union put six players in double figures, led by Terrence Ringo, Jr., with 18 points and eight rebounds, both game highs. Ryan Lewis added 15 points, while Jamiir Allen, Sam Youngblood, JaDyn Lee, and Casey Williams added 11 points each. 

Much of the first half was back-and-forth action for the first 15 minutes with four ties and four lead changes. Blue Mountain Christian held its largest lead of four points, 27-24, with 7:47 left to play in the half. Union took the lead for good, 31-29, on a layup from Ringo. Union closed out the final five minutes of the game on a 15-6 run to lead 44-35 at the break. 

Union dominated the second half, outscoring Blue Mountain Christian 48-25. Union extended its lead out to as many as 36 points twice, once with 5:16 left up 81-45, and the final time with 1:10 left, 90-54. 

Union shot 55 percent from the field, including a blistering 63 percent in the second half. Union was 7-of-25 (28%) from 3-point range and 83 percent (15-18) from the foul line. 

Blue Mountain Christian was led by Jalen Boyd-Savage with 10 points. The Toppers shot 35 percent from the field, 17 percent (4-24) from long range, and 95 percent (20-21) from the free throw line. 

Up next for Union is the second of four home games before Christmas break. Union hosts Christian Brothers Saturday at 4 p.m.
