WINTER PARK, Fla.- Union University men's basketball faced off against the host of the South Region Crossover Classic, Rollins College. After a buzzer beater from Rollins, the final score was 84-82.
The game was close the whole way through. At half, Union led 39-37. Both offenses kept the game exciting, with 16 lead changes throughout the game.
Rollins opened the game with a three pointer, to which Union responded with a jumper by Terrance Ringo Jr.
Will Lovings-Watts was the star of the first half. Only three minutes into play, he stole off of Rollins' Ryan Renfro and earned himself a dunk off a fast break. He would then follow this up with a three pointer of his own. Lovings-Watts was not done yet. After a steal off Rollins' Michael Niemann, he earned himself another dunk off a fast break. Lovings-Watts tallied 31 points on the game.
In the second half, the two teams went back and forth with scoring. With 46 seconds left, Lovings-Watts sank another three to tie up the match 82-82. A tip in rebound from Matus Malovec would put the game to bed with a final score of 84-82.
Seven Bulldogs scored with three being in double digits, Lovings-Watts led with 31,
Jamiir Allen followed with 17, and Ringo Jr. not far behind with 16.
Ringo Jr. earned a double-double with 11 rebounds alongside his 16 points.
The Bulldogs shot 48.4 percent from the field, 30.4 percent (7-23) from 3-point range, and 78.9 percent (15-19) from the free throw line.Â
