JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 26-24) sweep of Auburn University Montgomery Saturday afternoon at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Union improved to 5-18 overall and 3-13 in the Gulf South Conference. AUM dropped to 3-20 on the season and 2-13 in league play.
Serving domination was the spark that helped Union to the sweep over AUM. It started with
Kylie Creech getting two aces in her first two serves to get Union started, 2-0. The first set was close all the way, with the largest leads being three by Union and four by AUM. The set was tied at 22-22 when Union scored the final three points, a kill y
Elizabeth Gilbert and then two aces by
Sarah-Kate Savage.
The second set was also close. AUM held a slim lead of 18-16, when Savage's serve rotation came back up. Union closed out the set with nine straight points, including another service ace from Savage for the 25th point.
Another close set in the third. Back and fourth all the way. Following a block by
Natalie Supine, Union held match point at 24-23. AUM scored to stay alive but a kill from Park Goff and an attack error by AUM gave Union the set and match, 26-24.
AUM's Anyaliz Rodriguez led all players with 11 kills. Union's Goff and Gilbert both recorded nine kills, while Supine added eight. Savage led with five of Union's eight aces. AUM recorded zero aces in the match.
Ajahnaea Williams led with four blocks, Creech with 21 assists, and Savage with 17 digs.
Up next for Union will be the final two home matches of the 2025 season. Union hosts UAH Friday a 6 p.m. and Montevallo Saturday at 2 p.m. Only two weeks, four matches, remain in the regular season.
