JACKSON, Tenn.- Union University women's soccer team faced off against the University of West Alabama for the final game of their home slate. Following the 0-1 loss, the Lady Bulldog record sits at 3-3-3 (2-3-1 GSC) and the Lady Tigers rise to 7-2-2 (4-2-1 GSC).
Union had a series of opportunities early in the first half; however, they were not able to finish those opportunities. West Al responded with an opportunity of their own. Alieen Charles found Bailee Fairley, who found Selis Demirci for the 22
nd minute goal.
Lady Tigers continued to apply first half pressure, recording 9 shots to Union's 4.
Second half pressure came from the Lady Bulldogs as they tried almost anything to score an equalizer.
Lucia Garcia led the blitz in shots on goal (3) followed by fellow Spainard
Lucia Revuelto (1). Union out shot West Alabama 10-1 in the second half, however none of those shots were able to find the back of the net. After the final whistle, the scoreboard read 1-0 in favor of the visiting Lady Tigers,
This high intensity match was riddled with fouls for both team. West Alabama claims 13 and Union claims 9.
In goal,
Dehlia Placie made two saves and collected plenty of Lady Tiger crosses into the box.
Union will take a trip south for a weekend against West Florida (10/17) and Spring Hill College (10/19).
