The No. 5/11 Lady Bulldogs pick up 28th win of the season in impressive offensive performance

JACKSON, Tenn. – The No. 5/11 Lady Bulldogs defeated Shorter University by a score of 110-66. Union's record improves to 28-2 (22-2 GSC) while Shorter University's record falls to 3-25 overall (2-22 GSC).
 
The Lady Bulldogs held their senior night, honoring the following players: Shanique Lucas, Brooke Hampel, Leah Cauble, Lauren West, Anna McCredy, Emma Kallas, and Kieli Robinson.
 
This is Union's 100th straight win when scoring at least 70 points in a game.
 
In the first half of the game, Union knocked down 14 three-pointers and scored 67 total points. Union shot 53.3 percent (24-45) from the field. Shanique Lucas and Lauren West were both in double-digits scoring for Union with 13 and 12 respectively. Lucas was 5-7 from the floor in the half while West was 4-9 from three-point range. Shylee Morrison collected seven assists and five steals in the impressive offensive onslaught the Lady Bulldogs displayed in the half.
 
Union's defense forced 24 turnovers in the first half against Shorter. The Lady Bulldog's came away with 18 steals to help them to a 29-point lead going into intermission.
 
The Lady bulldogs picked up right where they left off in the second half, outscoring Shorter 43-28. Union shot at a 50.6 percent (42-83) clip from the floor. The Lady Bulldogs connected on 20 three-pointers in the game, only the fourth time in program history that the Lady Bulldogs seen at least 20 three-pointers fall in a game. Union collected 27 assists, 27 rebounds, and 27 steals in their final regular season victory.
 
West continued to let it fly from deep, tying her season high in three-pointers made (7) and setting a season-high in three-pointers attempted (15). West ended the game with 27 points off 10-20 shooting. Lucas tallied 15 points, Courtney Zensen 11points, Macey Lee 11 points, Brooke Hampel 11 points. Leah Cauble knocked down two three-pointers and finished with eight points in her final regular season game. Morrison ended with eight assists and five steals (led team).
 
Union set a new record in forced turnovers (37), the previous record was 30 versus Cumberland University (Tenn.). The Lady Bulldogs scored 50 off of turnovers versus Shorter.
 
The No. 5/11 Lady Bulldogs next game is on Tuesday, Mar. 5th. Union will play the No. 7 GSC seed at home starting at 5:30 p.m. General Admission is free courtesy of FirstBank.
