JACKSON, Tenn. - Union fell in all three games of the opening weekend series to Young Harris College (5-2, 10-1, 15-2). The Bulldogs record stands at 0-3 overall after the opening series while Young Harris starts the 2024 season 3-0.
The Bulldogs scored five runs versus the Mountain Lines over the weekend, two of which came off the bat of senior third baseman
Mitch Sisk. Over the weekend Sisk batted .500 (4-8). Sisk collected two homers, two runs batted in, and two runs. Sophomore
Grant Ross also had a solid weekend, batting .666 (6-9). Ross collected one extra-base hit and a run batted in. Sisk and Ross accounted for all of Union's runs batted in and 10 of Union's 20 hits.
Sam Poindexter and
Lane Evans both threw in game one for Union, allowing five earned runs on 12 hits, five walks, and no errors. Another encouraging outing from the opening weekend came from Sophomore
Eli Snelson. Snelson gave the Bulldogs 5.1 strong innings of three-hit, two-run baseball. Snelson collected five strikeouts in the outing.
Union will make their first appearance at Fesmire Field on Tuesday, February 6th versus Lane College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. General admission is free courtesy of FirstBank.
