Six Lady Bulldogs score season highs in 111-81 win over Prairie Stars

JACKSON, Tenn. - On Saturday afternoon, the No. 11/19 Union University women's basketball team faced the University of Illinois Springfield and won 111-81. This was the third game this season in which Union has put up at least 100 points. The Prairie Stars also scored their season high in the game. With the win, Union improves to 4-1 overall, while UIS falls to 0-4 overall. 

Six Lady Bulldogs scored season highs in the game, including Bethany Dillard (20), Emily Jones (19), Macey Lee (18), Keisharna Lucas (13), Courtney Zensen (11), and Aryn Roberts (4). Lucas' total was also a career high as she shot 3-4 from the three-point line.

The Prairie Stars hung with the Lady Bulldogs in the first quarter, keeping the deficit to just 11 points. However, Union went into halftime with a 64-45 lead and scored 27 in the third quarter and 20 in the fourth to solidify the win. The Lady Bulldogs went on a 28-5 run in the first 6:45 seconds of the third quarter, which was highlighted by five three-pointers, two apiece from Dillard and Zensen and one from Shylee Morrison.

Morrison also collected the most assists for Union with eight, followed closely by Jazalyn Anousinh with seven. Olivia Lee and Lucas tied for the most rebounds with seven. As a team, Union shot 46.9 percent (38-81) from the field, 45.8 percent (22-48) from behind the arc, and 76.5 percent (13-17) from the free throw line.

Kayla Rice led the Prairie Stars with 21 points. UIS shot 52.2 percent (35-67) from the field, 31.6 percent (6-19) from three-point range, and 83.3 percent (5-6) from the free throw line.

Up next, Union will travel to Ashland, Ohio to play No. 7/5 Ashland University on Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs return home on Dec. 5 for their first GSC regular season game in which they will face Delta State University at 5:30 p.m.
