Box Score 3 LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Union University baseball team lost their last series of the year to the University of West Alabama this weekend, but they ended their season on a win. They lost the first game 8-17, the second game 1-15, and won the last game 10-7. Union finished their season 14-31 overall and 9-21 in the Gulf South Conference. West Alabama moved to 21-26 overall and 14-16 in league play.
In the first game, the Tigers of West Alabama out hit the Bulldogs 21-8. There was five home runs hit in this game, four by West Alabama and one my Union's
Mitch Sisk.
Trey Frierson and
Blake Barrett led the team offensively each having two hits. Sisk, Barrett and Freshmen
Grant Ross led the team each with two RBI.
Lane Evans (2-8) started on the mound throwing one third of an inning allowing five runs on four hits. Four other Bulldogs threw in relief.
In the second game, the Tigers kept their foot on the gas out hitting Union again 15-5. Union's lone run came from
Britt Netterville as he hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Netterville led the team offensively going 2-3 and had the teams only RBI.
Sam Poindexter (3-6) started on the mound for Union throwing one and two thirds' innings giving up eight runs on seven hits earning two strikeouts. Four other Bulldogs threw in relief.
In the game on Saturday, Union rallied in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings and rattled off ten runs. Barrett started the team off in the fourth as he picked up an RBI on a ground ball to first. Sisk later plated another run on his ground ball to third. Netterville hit a grand slam in the fifth putting the team up by 3.
Grayson Swanson later scored on a balk, and Sisk scored on an error by the short stop. After five innings Union led 9-3. In the sixth inning Ross singled to center and scored Netterville making the game 10-3. Union held the Tigers off and went on to win 10-7.
Netterville and Swanson led the team with two hits. Netterville led with four RBI.
Eli Snelson (2-2) started on the mound for Union throwing six innings allowing five runs on seven hits. Three other Bulldogs threw in relief.
