Union softball tops Spring Hill 11-10 in second day of Charger Chillout

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. - The Union University softball team defeated Spring Hill College Saturday in the second day of the Charger Chillout hosted by the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Union improved to 2-6 on the season. The second game of the day versus Carson-Newman University was cancelled due to rain.
Union survived a back-and-forth game against Spring Hill in an early morning contest. Union scored at least one run in all six innings, while Spring Hill scored in four of its seven at-bats. The lead changed hands five times in the game. Union put up four runs in the fourth and two each in the fifth and sixth. It was just enough as Spring Hill scored twice in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on third base when Union was able to end the threat.
Union got solo home runs from the sister duo of Macey and Zoey Neal. Macey Neal, Zoey Neal, Adalia Alarcon, and Morgan Jennings all had two hits each. Macey Neal led with three RBI. Jennings had two RBI including a triple.
Addison Abell (1-1) earned the win in relief, allowing seven hits, four runs, with a strikeout. Emily Claire Felder started and lasted three innings with five hits, six runs, and a strikeout.
Up next for Union will be the final game of the Charger Chillout Sunday at 10 a.m. versus Kentucky Wesleyan University. Union will return to Jackson for a home non-conference doubleheader Wednesday versus Ouachita Baptist University at noon. However, the games will be moved off campus to the University School of Jackson softball field. Admission is free and live coverage is available on Union's coverage page.
