JACKSON, Tenn. - On Nov. 11, the Union University women's basketball team defeated the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 95-51. The Lady Bulldogs went 2-0 in their trip to Puerto Rico. With their win, Union, ranked No. 17 in the WBCA and D2CSC preseason polls, improved to 4-0 on the season.
Leah Cauble led Union in points with 20, while
Olivia Lee led in rebounds with seven. Union won the first quarter 19-11 and led 26-14 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs added an impressive 31 points in the third quarter and finished with 19 points in the fourth to cruise to the win.
Shanique Lucas and
Emma Kallas joined Cauble in double digits with 14 points and 11 points, respectively. Twelve players scored for Union.
Shylee Morrison had six assists. Union 41.4 percent (29-70) from the field, 34.1 percent (14-41) from 3-point range, and 69.7 percent (23-33) from the free throw line.
Paola N.SierraLopez led Puerto Rico-Mayaguez with 16 points. Puerto Rico-Mayaguez shot 34.5 percent (20-58) from the field, 20 percent (3-15) from behind the arc, and 57.1 percent (8-14) from the free throw line.
