De Vries, Nemeth lead bulldogs in resilient effort to force tie with UAH

JACKSON, Tenn. – Union's record moves to 3-5-2 overall (1-4-1 GSC) while the Chargers' record moves to 4-2-5 (2-0-4 GSC).

Union came into today's match sitting in 10th place in the conference ranks. Following Sunday's tie versus the Chargers, the Bulldogs move into a two-way tie for 9th place with Montevallo in the conference standings.

The first 45 minutes of action the Chargers put together 14 total shots to Union's 0. By the end of the match UAH created 20 shot opportunities compared the Union's 5 total. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, Botond Nemeth only allowed two goals and collected 9 saves against the relentless attack from the Chargers.

Stan De Vries was a major contributor once again for the Bulldogs who were struggling to create much offense. Following a goal by Kieran Rowe of the Chargers in the 54', De Vries (4) scored off a miscue from a Charger's defenseman. Just a minute later Kieran Rowe scored again for the Charger's in the 55'. Resiliently, the Bulldog's attack was able to get the ball in the box for De Fries (5) to have another opportunity with the left foot to tie the match at 2-2. Alexander Lapkalo picked up his second assist of the year on the goal from De Fries.

Union men's soccer will travel to Spring Hill for a conference matchup on Friday, October 13th.
