JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's soccer team lost 2-1 Friday night at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex to the University of West Florida. Union dropped to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 4-2-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in league play.Â
West Florida scored twice late in the first half and it proved to be enough for the Argos. West Florida broke the scoreless play with a goal in the 41st minute, followed by the game-winner just a couple minutes later in the 43rd. The score was 2-0 at the half.Â
Union got on the board, but a bit too late as
Ostian Bowen scored his team-leading sixth goal of the year in the 87th minute. He was assisted by
Mats Fredriksen.Â
Union was outshot 12-7 in the game, including 10-5 in the first half. Both teams managed just two shots in the second half. Corner kicks were 6-5 for West Florida while the fouls were 10-9 Union.Â
Up next for Union will be a home GSC contest September 25 at 3:30 p.m. versus Spring Hill College.Â
