JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team split its two games Saturday in the final day of the Union Volleyball Classic. Union defeated Texas Women's University 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-16) and then lost to Mississippi College 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23). Union is now 3-1 on the season.
In Union's first match of the day, Union needed to rally in both the first and second sets from late deficits. The first set was close all the way. Texas Women's Univ. led 18-17 late, before Union rattled off three straight points and six of the next seven points to take control. In set number two, TWU jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Union was able to slowly chip away and tied the set at 13-13. Union again trailed by as many as three points late, including 18-15, but stormed back and took its first lead of the set, 22-21. Sidney Hegg got the go-ahead kill for Union. With the set tied at 23-23, Union got kills from Alyssa Tatsch and Jordan Vick to seal the win. Union jumped out to a 5-1 advantage and never trailed in the final set.
