Union women's basketball adds transfer post player, Winnen, from TAMIU

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball program announced the signing of Ally Winnen to the roster for the fall of 2022-23. With her COVID year and a redshirt season, Winnen will enter Union with at least three years of eligibility remaining.
Union head coach Mark Campbell said, "We are very excited about getting the opportunity to coach Ally! She is strong, super competitive, and full of life. She has already proven to be an effective post player at this level. I believe she will fit in right away and help us immediately. Both Sean and I enjoyed the recruiting process and the relationship we developed."
Winnen, a 6-foot-2 freshman center, transferred to Union from Texas A&M International University where she played just five games as a freshman, beginning at the semester break. In the five games for TAMIU, Winnen averaged 19.4 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and two blocks per game in 25 minutes per game. She had used a redshirt season in 2021-22. Out of high school, she signed with Saginaw Valley State. Winnen prepped at Elyria Catholic High School. In basketball, she led her team to the state semifinals in 2018 and 2020. In 2020, she was named Miss Basketball for Lorian County, first-team All-Ohio, district player of the year, and joined the 1000-point club.
Winnen joined Lauren West as the two transfer additions at this point for the Union women's basketball team.
