JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team defeated Harding University 12-3 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon at Fesmire field. Union improved to 10-7 on the season, as Harding fell to 8-9 overall.
The Bison of Harding University scored first in the top of the first inning. The Bulldogs answered back in the second taking advantage of free bases, as well as, stringing together five consecutive hits. The Bulldogs scored seven runs in the second, four of those runs came from a grand slam by
Patrick Music. Union added four more runs in the fifth inning making the score 11-1 after five innings. Both teams scored runs in the sixth inning, Harding scored two and Union scored one. They played a scoreless seventh, eighth, and ninth posting a final score of 12-3.

Dorian Berry, and
Trey Frierson led Union with two hits each. Music led the team in RBI with four. Sam Pointdexter earned the win for the Bulldogs throwing six innings earning five strikeouts. He allowed three runs on 5 hits and three freebies.
Ryan Evans and
Billy Beckham both pitched in relief.
Up next for Union is a three-game conference homestand against Valdosta State University. The first game of the series is set to take place Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m.
