Union men get GSC road win at West Florida, 69-63

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 69-63 win at the University of West Florida Friday evening. Union improved to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in league play. West Florida dropped to 4-5 on the season and 1-5 in league play. 
The game started with the teams going back and forth early. Union took a 9-7 lead on a 3-pointer from Layne Sarver and the Bulldogs led for the rest of the way. Union built a lead with back-to-back three pointers from Justin Debuck and JC Clausi to lead by eight with 11:18 to play in the half. Union led by as many as 10 points in the first half, 36-26, before taking a 36-28 lead into the locker room. 
West Florida cut Union's lead to just one point with a 7-0 run to start the second half. Union stopped the run and maintained the lead. Union extended the lead back to as many as 14 points, 65-51, with 4:42 left to play. UWF got as close as five points with just under two minutes left, but Union held off the Argos' late charge to get the win. 
Ten players scored in the game for Union, including four in double figures. Tylandrius Parks led the way with 16 points and five assists. JC Clausi scored 16 points in just his third game of the year. He was 4-of-5 from long range in the game. Debuck scored 11 points and Boe Nguidjol added 10 points and a team high seven rebounds. The Bulldogs shot 46 percent from the field, 38 percent (8-21) from 3-point range, and 88 percent (7-8) from the free throw line. 
West Florida was led by LaTrell Tate with 15 points and Daniel Sofield with 12 points. The Argos shot 36 percent from the field, 24 percent (4-17) from long range, and 81 percent (21-26) from the free throw line.
