MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 77-62 win at Christian Brothers University Friday night. Union improved to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers dropped to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in league play.Â
Parks posted 19 straight points early in the first half on his way to a career high 33 points. He shattered his old career high of 26 points in a game.Â

David Niven said of Parks' big night, "It could not have happened to a better kid. Ty is a loyal, hard-working, humble person and I am really happy for him. Our team has needed somebody to step up and tonight Ty answered that call. That was one of the most efficient offensive performances I've seen in a long time."
The teams went back-and-forth early before Union took the lead for good with a 3-pointer from Parks, 14-11. In fact, the game was tied 6-6 and Parks started a stretch where he scored 19 straight points for Union, including five 3-pointers. When he was done, Union led 25-18 with 11:54 left to play in the half. Union extended the lead to as many as 11 points twice, including the 44-33 halftime lead.Â
Union stretched its lead to 17 points, 54-37, in just over six minutes of play in the second half. CBU got as close as 10 points, but Union took its largest lead of 18 points at 75-57 and again at 77-59 in the final minute. A three pointer in the final seconds set the final at 77-62.Â
Parks was was 8-of-9 from 3-point range as a part of his game high 33. He added 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Justin Debuck scored 10 points and
Boe Nguidjol added 13 rebounds. Nine players scored for Union. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field, 46 percent (12-26) from long range, and 79 percent (11-14) from the free throw line.Â
CBU was led by Madison Monroe with 16 points and Kam Vick with 13 points. The Bucs shot 44 percent from the field, 29 percent (5-17) from 3-point range, and 31 percent (5-16) from the free throw line.Â
