BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University volleyball's Libero Sydney Sample has been named the Gulf South Defensive Player of the Week of the week ending November 1st. This is the Second GSC weekly award this season for Volleyball. This is Samples second DPOW of the season and her third career Player of the Week award.
 
Sample a 5-4 senior from Jonesboro, Ark, helped the Lady Bulldogs to a 3-0 record last week. She recorded 34 digs averaging 3.4 digs per set. She also had five service aces and seven assists. Samples highlight of the week came from the win over Christian Brothers where she recorded 16 digs and three service aces.
 
Up next for Union is a conference matchup of the road as they travel down to Rome, Ga. to take on the Hawks of Shorter University. This match is set to take place Thursday, November 3 at 5:00 p.m.
