MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-17,25-11,25-9) victory over Christian Brothers on the road Tuesday afternoon. Union improved to 14-4 overall and 7-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers dropped to 3-10 overall and 2-5 in the GSC.
The win for Union pushed its winning streak to nine games. The nine straight wins is a record for the longest winning streak for volleyball since joining division II in 2012. It is the longest winning streak since Union volleyball won 10 straight matches in 2010 while still members of the NAIA. The record for consecutive wins in program history is 22 in 1999.
In tonight's win, Union hit .355 and led in every category. Led in kills 33-19, aces 11-3, assists 28-18, blocks 7-2, digs 38-29.
Alyssa Tatsch led Union in kills with nine and had a season high hitting percentage of .600.
Davey Slaughter led the team in aces with six,
Jordan Vick led the team in assists with 26,
Sidney Hegg led the team in blocks with four, and
Sydney Sample led the team in digs with 13. Sample has had double figure digs in the last eight matches.
Up next for Union is a road matchup verses the Falcons of Montevallo. The first set of the match is set to take place Friday, October 7 at 6:00 p.m.
