JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's soccer lost 3-1 at home, Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Union dropped to 4-11-1 overall and 1-9-1 in the Gulf South Conference to finish up their season. Christian Brothers improved to 9-2-5 on the season and 5-2-4 in league play.
Christian Brothers scored first in the 31
st minute on a goal by Ryan Beckinsale, assisted by Marco Osti. Union followed up CBU's goal within the next minute with a goal by
Alexander Lapkalo in the 32
nd minute, assisted by
Stan De Vries and
Hunter Santoscoy. The score remained 1-1 until halftime. However, CBU scored in the 66
th minute after Union's
Mats Fredriksen received a red card. The goal was scored by SBU's Andres Solares, assisted by Brian Torre. CBU then went on to score again in the 88
th minute on a goal by Marco Osti, assisted by Jonathan Muller.
CBU out shot Union 26-7 and 10-4 in shots on goal. CBU also led in corner kicks 8-2 and fouls 9-5.
Ostian Bowen led Union with three shots.
Botond Nemeth recored seven saves in his 90 minutes in goal.
