No. 10 Union men’s soccer continues winning streak with a 2-0 victory over Trevecca

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's soccer team picked up another win Wednesday with a victory over the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University, 2-0. Union, ranked No. 10 in the national rankings, move to 3-0 on the year, while Trevecca dropped to 1-1.

The win for Union is the eighth consecutive victory, dating back to last season. 

William Valencia put the Bulldogs on top early in just the 10th minute of play as he scored his second goal of the season. Kenny Nitzsche was credited with the assist. With seconds left in the first half Botond Nemeth came away with a save sending the Bulldogs into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Union controlled the ball for the majority of the second half rattling off 13 of their 15 total shots. David Hurtado added some insurance in the 79th minute as he found the back of the net when he received a pass from Stan De Vries. This was David Hurtado's third goal of the season, scoring in all three matches for the Bulldogs this season.

Union outshot Trevecca 15-6 in the match, including 6-1 in shots on goal. Another physical match for the Bulldogs, with 22 total fouls, with Trevecca edging Union 12-10.

David Hurtado led the team with four shots. Gavin Scott recorded three shots. James Jackson recorded two shots. 

Up next for Union is a road match at Lincoln Memorial University, Saturday, September 11th at 1:30 p.m.
