JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team lost 1-0 at home to the University of Montevallo. Union dropped to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in the Gulf South Conference. Montevallo improved to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Montevallo took the early lead with a goal in the 14th minute from Kacey Alejandre, assisted by Miranda Fragoso. That goal proved to be the game-winner as neither team scored the remainder of the way.
Union was out shot 9-5 in the first half and 13-5 in the second half, 22-10 for the match. Montevallo topped Union 10-5 in shots on goal and had four corner kicks to Union's zero.
Annika Weidner and
Matilda Nyberg led Union with three shots each.
Bryson Lee played all 90 minutes in goal, allowing just one goal with nine saves.
Up next for Union will be a pair of road GSC matches, October 1 at West Florida, and October 3 at Spring Hill.
