PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Union University women's soccer team lost 3-1 at the University of West Florida Friday evening. Union dropped to 1-6 on the season and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 5-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.
Union led 1-0 after scoring in the fourth minute of play.
Annika Weidner scored an unassisted goal to give Union the lead. Union led for most of the first half until West Florida scored in the 37th minute. The score was 1-1 at the half.
That score stayed until late in the match. West Florida got the game-winning goal in the 81st minute of play and then tacked on insurance in the 85th minute.
Union was out shot 34-4 in the match, including 27-2 in shots on goal.
Matilda Nyberg led Union with two shots.

Up next for Union will be another road match, October 3 at Spring Hill College at 1 p.m.
