CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team lost 4-1 at Lee University Friday night. Union dropped to 0-3 on the season and 0-1. Lee, ranked No. 20 in the latest national rankings, improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Lee wasted no time in getting on the board. The Lady Flames scored in the ninth minute. The score stayed 1-0 for almost 25 minutes, but a pair of goals over the next four minutes set the Lee lead to 3-0.
Lee led 3-0 at the half. The Lady Flames also held the advantage in shots, 14-2, and shots on goal, 6-2.
Sixteen minutes into the second half, Lee added its fourth goal. Union got its first goal of the season in the 70th minute when
Hannah Patterson converted on a penalty kick. Neither team scored over the final 20 minutes.
Led outshot Union 21-5, including 10-3 in shots on goal. Patterson led Union with two shots.
Bryson Lee and
Rylee Iorio split time in goal, each playing one half.
Up next for Union will be another road GSC match, September 19 at 12:00 p.m. at Shorter University.
