JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Delta State University Friday night at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Union fell to 0-3 in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship series while Delta State improved to 4-0-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in the GSC Series.
Delta State controlled the first half, outshooting Union 8-0. Carra Hymel scored the first goal for the Lady Statesmen in the 30th minute. The 1-0 score held at the half.
Delta State scored again in the 52nd minute when Diana Okechukwu was able to get ahold of a rebound inside the six-yard box. Okechukwu scored again in the 57th minute on a penalty kick.
Union was outshot 15-2 in the match. Delta State led 9-1 in shots on goal.
Rylee Iorio recorded six saves on the night.
Claire Maxon had both shots for Union.
Three seniors,
Anna Venckus,
Jaya Wilson, and
Tiffany Linser were recognized after the game.
