CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Union University women's basketball team posted a 77-63 win at Delta State University Monday night. Union improved to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Delta State dropped to 7-4 on the season and 5-1 in league play. 
Union is ranked No. 19 in the latest WBCA Coaches' Poll and No. 18 in the D2SIDA Media Poll. 
The win for Union is its seventh straight win, while it also snapped a 6-game winning streak for Delta State.
Delta State led Union 17-11 at the end of the first quarter. However, Union won each of the final three quarters, outscoring DSU 66-46 in the final 30 minutes. 
Union scored first in the game on 3-pointer from 
Bethany Dillard. With Union leading 10-6, DSU closed out the quarter with a 9-1 run. 
DSU opened the second quarter with one of its three 3-pointers in the game to take its largest lead of 20-11. Union responded with a 12-2 run to regain the lead. Union took the lead for good 25-24 on a layup from 
Ashtyn Baker with three minutes left in the first half. Union led 30-27 at the half. 
Union extended its lead to as many as 20 points three different times in the second half. 
Union had balanced scoring with four players in double figures and two more with nine points. Freshman 
Bethany Dillard led with 19 points including 5-of-8 shooting from 3-point range. 
Shanique Lucas scored 15 points, 
Jaelencia Williams added 11, and 
Emily Beard Dunnigan added 10 points. Williams scored all 11 of her points in the second half. Baker and 
Samariah Thompson added nine points each. Union shot 47 percent from the field, 43 percent (9-21) from long range, and 82 percent (14-17) from the free throw line. 
Delta State was led by T'yra Hicks with 19 points and Ke'Vonshay Stackhouse with 13 points. Z'yaire Ewing added a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds. DSU shot 35 percent from the field, 23 percent (3-13) from 3-point range, and 96 percent (22-23) from the free throw line. 
Union will be off for the Christmas break and will play next on December 31 at West Georgia.
