Union men's soccer ties Delta State 2-2 in GSC action

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's soccer team tied Delta State University 2-2 in double overtime Friday night at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Union 

Union's Gavin Scott scored both goals for the Bulldogs. In doing so, he pushed his career total to 31 career goals. His 31 career goals puts him in a tie for third on the all-time goals list at Union. Scott's 31 career goals put him first on the goals list in the NCAA D2 era at Union (since 2012). 

Delta State scored first in the 13th minute of play. Scott scored his first goal on a PK in the 31st minute. The scored was 1-1 at the half. Union took its first lead of the night in the 65th minute when Scott scored again, assisted by Stan DeVries. Just when Union looked to be heading toward its first GSC home win of the season, Delta State found the back of the net in the 79th minute of play. 

Delta State edged Union in shots, 20-18 and shots on goal, 12-11. Both teams recorded seven corners each. 

Gavin Scot led Union with eight shots. James Jackson and Jorge Gutierrez each added two shots. Botond Nemeth recorded 10 saves in his 110 minutes of work. 

Up next for Union is the final regular season home match of the year, October 24 versus Mississippi College.
