JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 92-66 win over Rhodes College in exhibition play Saturday evening at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
Union never trailed in the game and led by as many as 30 points early in the second half. Union led 50-27 at the break.
The Bulldogs were led with five players in double figures.
Tyree Boykin scored 16 points,
Tylandrius Parks,
Terrandus Smith, and
LiDonta Hicks-Gentry each scored 12 points, and
Ousmane Gueye added 10 points. Ten players scored in the game for Union. Parks completed the double-double with 13 rebounds.
Union shot 51 percent from the field, 32 percent (9-28) from 3-point range, and 46 percent (5-11) from the free-throw line.
Rhodes was led by Koki Wiley with 16 points. Kevin Shen added 13 and Wiley Pippenger scored 11 points. The Lynx shot 39 percent from the field, 33 percent (6-18) from long range, and 56 percent (10-18) from the free-throw line.
Up next for Union will be the season opener in the South Region Crossover Classic in Mobile, Ala. Union plays host Spring Hill, Friday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m.
