LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Union University women's soccer team lost to the University of West Alabama 4-1 Sunday afternoon. Union is now 2-10 on the season and 1-8 in the GSC. West Alabama improved to 10-3-1 overall and 8-1-1 in conference play.
West Alabama's first goal did not come until the 33rd minute of play. The 1-0 score held until halftime. West Alabama out shot Union 5-0 in the first half. Union goalkeeper
Anna Venckus logged two saves in the half.
In the second half, the Tigers added a second goal in the 53rd minute. Just five minutes later the Tigers added a third goal. The Lady Bulldogs got a spark of energy when freshman
Iris Seamster scored her second goal of the season in the 63rd minute.
Jaya Wilson had the assist, her second of the season. The Tigers rounded out their scoring in the 74th minute to set the final at 4-1. Union goalkeeper
Rylee Iorio had one save in the half.
In the match, West Alabama out shot Union 12-1, including 7-1 in shots on goal. The win clinched a birth for West Alabama in the 2019 GSC Women's Soccer Championship.
Up next for Union is its last home weekend of the season. Union will host West Georgia Friday, November 1 at 5:00 p.m.
