JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Shorter University at Smith Soccer Complex. Union dropped to 2-8 on the season and 1-6 in the Gulf South Conference. Shorter improved to 2-10 overall and 2-5 in league play.
The match's only goal came in the 66th minute when Erin Carter scored for the Hawks. Union edged Union 18-17 in total shots, while Shorter led 9-8 in shots on goal.
Taylor Knight led Union with four shots.
Rylee Iorio played the first half for Union in goal, recording five saves.
Anna Venckus played the second half, getting two saves.
Up next for Union is a road match Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Alabama Huntsville.
