MOBILE, Ala. – The Union University men's soccer team was defeated by Spring Hill College 3-2. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-4-1 on the season and 0-2 in Gulf South Conference play. The Badgers improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Union struck first in the 28th minute with a shot from outside the box by freshman Gavin Scott assisted by Anthony Iacopelli.
With less than a minute left in the half, Spring Hill's Alexander Lipinski tied the game on a cross from Zach Witt.
The first half ended 1-1.
Early in the second half, Lipinski scored his second goal of the day assisted by Josh Pedritti and Tilman Schober. Six minutes later Shober scored the Badgers final goal of the game.
Union pressure Spring Hill's defense the rest of the game, and Felipe Firmino scored off a free kick outside the box in the 66th minute. Union could not even the match as it ended with the final of 3-2.
Union was led by Firmino four shots and one goal. The Bulldogs out shot the Badgers, 9-7.
Euan Morton was in the goal for Union and recorded two saves.
Up next for Union is a home match against West Alabama on Friday, September 21 at 7:15 p.m.
