Box Score ROME, Ga. - The Union University men's basketball team posted a 105-79 win over Spring Hill College in the South Region Crossover Classic hosted by Shorter University. The game was the season opener for both teams.
Union hit 11 3-pointers in the win including seven in the first half. The Bulldogs shot 64 percent from the field in the game and finished at 58 percent (11-19) from 3-point range.
Bulldog sophomore Tyree Boykin poured in 35 points, including 6-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Bryson Butler finished with 31 points. Butler was 8-of-10 from the field field with one 3-pointer, but also added 14-of-16 shooting from the free throw line. Samory Gueye and Peyton Stovall each added 10 points.
Union led 50-35 at the half and added 56 more points in the final 20 minutes. Union had 44 points in the paint and dominated the bench scoring 42-21.
Union's biggest lead of the game was 26 points, and boasted a 15-0 run midway through the first half to pull away.
Up next for the Bulldogs is another game in the crossover classic, Saturday, November 10 at 1 p.m. central time versus LeMoyne-Owen College.
