Box Score ROME, Ga. – The Union University men's basketball team posted a 75-70 win over LeMoyne-Owen College Saturday afternoon in the South Region Crossover Classic, hosted by Shorter University. Union improved to 2-0 on the season, while LeMoyne-Owen dropped to 1-1 overall.
Union shot well for the second straight night, hitting 46 percent from the field and 40 percent (8-20) from 3-point range. Union also got another great night from sophomore
Tyree Boykin with 29 points after scoring 35 points last night.
Union led 42-35 at the half, after shooting 54 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. Union also hit 68 percent (17-25) of its free throws in the game.
Bryson Butler added 14 points. Nine of the 10 players in the game for Union all scored at least four points.
LeMoyne-Owen had three players in double figures led by Tyrone Banks with 19 points.
Union led by as many as 12 points in the game. That advantage came midway through the first half. The Bulldogs never trailed in the game and had a tie score just three times. Union out rebounded the Magicians 37-35 and committed two more turnovers, 18-to-16.
Up next for Union will be a home game November 14 at 7 p.m. versus Cumberland University.
