JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team fell 6-4 Tuesday afternoon to the University of Arkansas at Monticello at Fesmire Field. Union led 3-0 in the game, but could not hold off UAM and lost their third straight mid week contest. Union defeated UAM 19-8 back on Feb. 15 in Arkansas earlier this year.

WHAT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the second with a solo homer from Hayden Lewis, his fifth of the year, on the first pitch of the inning. The second run of the inning came in two batters later when Ryne Roper scored on a groundout to the shortstop to give Union a 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs added another run in the third when David Robins drew a walk forcing in Ryne Roper from third for the 3-0 lead.
With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, the Boll Weevils took the lead with one swing of the bat on a bases clearing triple from Brian Ray who then came in to score after catching the Union defense off guard to take the 4-3 lead.
Union was quick to answer the four run outburst from UAM in the next half inning when Zach Phillips tripled to deep right center that drove in Nolen Milton all the way from first base to tie the game at 4-4.
AUM continued their offensive momentum from the fifth with two more runs in the sixth. McFadden laced a 2-RBIi single to left field to give his team the 6-4 lead that stood as the final

Union scored in three of the innings, while AUM scored in just the fifth and sixth innings.
POSTGAME STATS
Union managed eight hits in the game, led by Nolen Milton with two. David Robins, Zach Phillips and Hayden Lewis recorded one RBI each.
Walter Rook got the start for Union, allowing four run on five hits in 4.2 innings of work with two strikeouts, no walks, but hit two batters. Landon Walker (0-2) took the loss in relief by allowing two runs in one-third of an inning of work after Union had tied the game at 4-4. Tommy Weiler, Joe Hudson and Ryne Roper kept Union in the game by combining for the final four innings of work on the mound, allowing no run on three hits with two strikeouts.
UAM was led by Brian Ray and Lathan McFadden with two hits each. Ray led with three RBI while McFadden from the nine-hole added two RBI.
Jared Libke started the game for UAM, tossing 3.1 inning and allowing three runs on four hits with five walks and three strikeouts. Michael Harrison (2-1) got the win in relief, allowing one run on two hits in 2.2 innings of work. After Drake Streeter tossed two-thirds of scoreless relief, Landon McFadden (2) got the save with 2.1 innings of work to close out the game. He struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth inning.
