ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Union University baseball team took down Henderson State University, 6-5, in a back and forth affair that took 10 innings to complete.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Union took the lead on the very first at-bat of the game when leadoff hitter David Robbins blasted his first homer of the season for the 1-0 lead.
- The Reddies fired back in the bottom half of the first with a bases clearing double that gave the home team the 3-1 lead.
- The Bulldogs got a run back in the top of the second on an RBI double from Austin Orr that drove in Ryne Roper to cut the lead to one. Henderson State got that run back in the very next frame with an RBI single of their own.
- Union then tied the game in the top of the third with a solo homer from Nolen Milton and a ground out from Roper that scored Zach Phillips that tied the game at 4-4.
- The Reddies regained the lead once again just a half inning later with a unearned run on an error by the rightfielder to make the score 5-4 in favor of HSU.
- After an action packed three innings to kick off the contest, no one was able to score until the sixth with another groundout from Union that allowed Caleb Demarigny to score from third that tied the game once again.
- With no one breaking the tie in the final three innings of action the game went to extras in which Union made short work of the situation scoring in the top of the tenth inning when Roper ripped a double to left field scoring Hayden Lewis to go ahead 6-5.
POSTGAME STATS
- Skyler Harrison earned the win in the contest to improve to 2-0 tossing the final two innings in relief without giving up a run and striking out four batters.
- Cooper Bullough started on the mound for the Bulldogs lasting three innings giving up five runs on five hits. Joe Hudson entered in relief in the fourth going 4.1 innings without giving up a run and striking out two batters. Austin Kitterman pitched the final two outs in the eighth.
- Hayden Lewis and Ryne Roper both ended the game with two hits with Roper driving in two runs, including the game winning run.

The Bulldogs get back into conference action this weekend hosting Mississippi College in a three game set this weekend at Fesmire Field. First pitch on Saturday is set for 1:00 p.m.
