ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Union University baseball team opened their season with a sweep of Ouachita Baptist for the second year in a row. After taking both game of a double header on Saturday afternoon, the Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 9-3 on Sunday.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Union took the lead in the top of the first inning with a bases loaded walk from Zach Phillips scoring Dylan Moore from third.
- The Tigers evened the score in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI double to left field that scored a run for the home team.
- The Bulldogs retook the lead in the next frame when Ryne Roper hit his first homer of the season, a solo shot. Union added to their lead in the third on a pair of grounders on the infield that scored two and an RBI single from Austin Orr that scored Hayden Lewis to more the score to 5-1.
- Union tacked on three more runs in the fourth and fifth innings with another solo homerun, this time from Nolen Milton, and an RBI single from Moore that scored two runs, making the score 8-1.
- After a pair of unearned runs for the Tigers in the sixth, Milton jacked another solo homer in the eighth to set the final at 9-3.
POSTGAME STATS
- Marty Coursey got the win on the mound for Union tossing six innings, giving up only one earned run and striking out seven batters. Skyler Harrison finished the game off for the Bulldogs on the bump throwing the final three innings and recorded five strikeouts.
- Nolen Milton led the way at the plate for Union going 3-for-4 with two homeruns and a double while driving in two runs and scoring three times. Dylan Moore also had a good day at the plate going 3-for-4 with three singles and two RBI.
