CLINTON, Miss. – The Union University women's basketball team earned a 73-57 win at Mississippi College Saturday afternoon. It was the third straight win for Union and their sixth victory in the past eight games. With the win, Union swept the season series with Mississippi College.

WHAT HAPPENED

• Mississippi College scored first in the game with a 3-pointer from Olivia Mabry. It was the only lead of the game for the Chactaws. Union's Chelsea Bodiford answered with a 3-pointer as the Lady Bulldogs scored nine straight points to take control of the game. Union led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter, before taking a 16-10 lead into the second quarter. Union led by as many as 19 points in the second quarter and held a 35-21 lead at the half.
• Union led by as many as 21 points three times in the third quarter including a 60-39 lead at the end of the period. Mississippi College rallied to cut Union's lead down to 13 points, but Union cruised to the 73-57 win.
• Union outscored Mississippi College in each of the first three quarters including putting up 5 points in the third quarter. MC outscored Union 18-13 in the final quarter but the game was already in Union's control.

Union led for over 39 minutes of the game with their only deficit coming 3-0 after MC's first possession of the game.

• Union shot 46 percent from the field, 30 percent (7-23) from 3-point range and 74 percent (20-27) from the free throw line.
• Mississippi College shot 32 percent from the field, 26 percent (5-19) from long range and 84 percent (16-19) from the free throw line.
• Union out rebounded Mississippi College 42-27 in the game and 11-10 offensively. Union committed 21 turnovers in the game, leading to 21 points for MC. The Choctaws committed 15 turnovers.

PLAYER STATS

• Union was led by Bria Gaines with 17 points and nine rebounds. Jada Smith scored 12 points, Chelsea Bodiford added 11 points and Jada Perkins scored 10 points.
• Mississippi College was led by Kelly Allen and Olivia Mabry with 15 points each.
