JACKSON, Tenn.- University of Montevallo defeated the Union men's soccer team 1-0 on Friday night.
The Bulldogs are now 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the Gulf South Conference. The Falcons improved to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1–1 in conference play.
Montevallo scored in the 21st minute by Cesare Marconi with an assist by Zach Keller.
Montevallo out shot Union 9-6 in the first half.
The score at the end of the first half was 1-0.
The Bulldogs and the Falcons played evenly throughout the second half.
One of Union's final scoring opportunities was a pass by William Valencia into Zac Fletcher with a minute and a half left in the game, but they were unable to capitalize.
The final score was 1-0.
Union out shot Montevallo 19-4. Casper Nyberg recorded five saves for Union, and Robert Kuta collected three for Montevallo.
