JACKSON, Tenn.- The University of Montevallo defeated the Union women's soccer team 1-0 on Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 2-7 overall and 2-6 in the Gulf South Conference. The Falcons improved to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Montevallo controlled the shots in the first half, 9-6, Kristen Francis had four saves in the half for Union.
Montevallo out shot Union again in the second half, 6-4. The Lady Falcons got the match's only goal in the 77th minute with a score from Taylor Gonzales assisted by Christiane Malone.
Montevallo out shot Union 15-10 on the game. Francis had seven saves and Shelby High led with two shots for Union.
Up next for Union is a home game against Auburn University at Montgomery, Sunday October 8 at 2 p.m.
