JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by the University of West Florida Sunday evening.
The Bulldogs are now 3-11 overall and 3-8 in the Gulf South Conference. The Argonauts improved to 6-6-1 and 4-4-1 in conference play.
In the first minute of the game, there was confusion in Union's defense that allowed West Florida's Erick Rivera access to a loose ball. Rivera kicked a looping shot over Union goalie for the easy score.
In the 16th minute of the game, Union's
Paul Langford, assisted by
Zac Fletcher, was able to put the ball into the back of the net and tie the match. The 1-1 score stood at the half.
In the 72nd minute of the game, Pete Love scored the game winner for the Argonauts.
The final score was 2-1.
The Bulldogs were out shot 24-14.
William Valencia led Union with five shots. Union's
Casper Nyberg collected nine saves, and West Florida's Jacob Murray had six saves.
