Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Union University fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-15) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Union dropped to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the Gulf South Conference. UAH improved to 9-2 on the season and 4-1 in the league play.
Union led set one 4-3 early and were tied 7-7 before Alabama Huntsville began to get separation from the Lady Bulldogs. Union got as close at 16-13 but lost the set 25-18.
In the second set, Union again scored first on an ace from
Abbie Rahn. However, UAH answered with three straight points and jumped out to a 10-4 lead. The Chargers maintained at least a five point cushion on their way to a 25-17 set win.
For the third straight set, Union scored first again and led 3-1 to start play. UAH scored four straight points to take a lead. Union stayed close and tied the set 8-8. Alabama Huntsville then scored nine of the next 10 points, including eight straight to lead 17-9. The Chargers cruised to the 25-15 win.
Union was led by Rahn with 11 kills and
Hannah Huguley with 29 assists.
Audrey Cagle led with 16 digs.
Jordan Davis led with two blocks and Cagle led with two aces.
UAH was led in kills by Barnes with six, assists by Giles with 26, aces by Hop with two, digs by Hop with 12 and blocks by Brugman with four.
Up next for Union will be the first of three straight home matches, Friday, September 30 versus Valdosta State at 7 p.m.
