CLINTON, Miss.- The Union University women's soccer team game ended in a 2-2 draw Tuesday afternoon at Mississippi College. The Lady Bulldogs move to 1-3-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in Gulf South Conference action.
Mississippi College got on the board early in the first half with a goal in just the 11th minute of play from Samantha Carson. The 1-0 MC lead would hold through the halftime break.Â
It was not until the 74th minute that Union got on the board when
Olivia Schmitke scored her first goal of the season to even the score at 1-1.
The Choctaws took the lead again only nine minutes later with Lauren Kate Carter netting a ball to make the score 2-1.
With only three minutes remaining in regulation,
Summer Senn evened the score once again scoring her second goal of the season to move the score to 2-2.Â
Neither team could get anything going in the waning minutes of regulation, nor in the two ten minute overtime periods that followed. Despite the match ending in a draw, Union was outshot 21-9 in the contest while
Kristen Francis saved eight of those shots in the goalie position.
Union continues their road swing on Sunday at Delta State, until they return home on September 30th to take on Shorter at 5:00 p.m. for Family Weekend.
