LEBANON, Ill. - The Union University women's soccer team dropped their first regular season match 2-1 at McKendree University. The Lady Bulldogs led early, fell on last minute goal.
Union got their first goal of the regular season only seven minutes into the match when senior
Sarah Hershbain netted an unassisted goal to give the Lady Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead.
McKendree equalized the score in the the 25th minute on a cross from the corner to tie the match at 1-1. The Bearcats took the lead late in the match in the 86th minute on a header that proved to be the winning goal.Â
Union managed nine shots in the match, with five being on target, but were out done by McKendree who totaled 17 on the afternoon. Hershbain accounted for two of Union's shots while seven other players had one shot apiece.
Kristen Francis started in the goal for the Lady Bulldogs saving seven shots in the match.
The Lady Bulldogs get back to action on Wednesday, September 7th, on the road at Division I Southeast Missouri State for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
