CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Union University women's soccer team lost 4-1 at Division I Southeast Missouri State University. Union dropped to 0-2 on the season, while SEMO improved to 5-0-1 overall.
Southeast Missouri scored twice early in the first half with goals in the seventh and 14
th minute of play. Natasha Minor scored both goals, the first on a penalty kick. Maddi Karstens earned the assist on the second goal. SEMO led 2-0 at the half.
Union got on the board five minutes into the second half when
Summer Senn scored from 25 yards.
In the 70
th minute, Minor completed her hattrick for the match with her third goal, getting the assist from Esmeralda Gonzales. SEMO added a second PK goal, this time from Maggie Pike in the 80
th minute to set the final at 4-1.
Union was outshot 24-3 in the match, including 12-3 in shots on goal. The three Union shots came from Senn,
Kelsey Wilkes and
Madison Studstill.
Kristen Francis earned eight saves as she played all 90 minutes in net for Union. Kindra Lierz had two saves in the complete match victory for the RedHawks.
Up next for Union will be their first regular season home match of the season, Friday, September 8 at 5 p.m. when the Lady Bulldogs host Tusculum College.
