LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Union University women's soccer team lost 1-0 to the University of West Alabama in the Gulf South Conference Quarterfinals Tuesday night.
Union made history with their first appearance in the GSC Tournament since becoming postseason eligible in 2014 after transitioning to NCAA DII.
Union, seeded fifth in the tournament, ended their season with a 7-5-5 record.
Fourth seeded West Alabama scored the only goal of the match in the 17
th minute of play. TeMia Pride scored with the assist from Taylor Brackin.
West Alabama outshot Union 10-5 in the match and 4-3 in shots on goal. Five different players had one shot each for Union. Second team All-GSC player
Kayleigh Patterson had one of those shots on goal, while
Brooke Watson and
Sarah Hershbain had the other two.
Defending GSC Defender of the Week
Kristen Francis had three saves in the loss.
The seven wins for Union matched the second highest win total for head coach
Isaac Brooks. He won eight games in 2012 and seven in 2013.
