Isaac Brooks was named the women's soccer head coach at Union University in 2012. He begins his sixth season as head coach compiling a career record of 29-48-11 (.392).
In 2016, Brooks had a milestone season by leading the team to their first Gulf South Conference Tournament as a fifth seed.
In his third season, Brooks' team battled through a massive amount of injuries as nine of his 11 starters to start the year missed time with injury. He finished 3-13 in 2014 with a very young team in their first season as active members of the Gulf South Conference and NCAA Division II. He saw numerous players garner valuable playing time that will help as they move forward in the GSC and NCAA DII.
In his first two seasons as head coach, he was given the task of leading Union trough the transition from NAIA to NCAA DII. In his first season, he led Union to arespectable 8-10-2 record in his first season in the Gulf South Conference, which boasted the 2012 NCAA DII national champion. In 2013, he improved to 7-7-3 overall and 4-4-2 in league play.
Prior to being named the head coach, Brooks spent five seasons as the assistant coach for the Union women’s soccer program. Brooks played three years of soccer during the early years of the men's program from 1999-2002.
As an assistant coach for Union, Brooks has been a key part of the success of the young program. Union earned the co-championship of the 2011 TranSouth Conference Regular season, the first title for the program that began in 2005.
In the spring of 2007, Brooks led his club team, the '91 Lady Flyers, to the Division III State Title in just his first season with the team. In 2009, Jackson Lady Flyers club team was a finalist in the girls under 18 DII state championship. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in which he has a soccer coaching diploma. In 2008, Brooks was selected to be a board member for the Jackson Area Wide Soccer (JAWS) organization. Brooks serves as the Director of Coaching for JAWS. He has served in the past as the General Manager and Director of Coaching for the Tennessee Rush Soccer Club.
Brooks, a native of Ridgetop, Tenn., graduated from Union in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Christian Ministries and Recreation. In May of 2011, Brooks completed his M.A.Ed with an emphasis in sports administration. He has worked for the Memphis Athletic Ministries. Brooks has also spent time as a coach for the Chicago Eagles and a counselor for Young Life at Camp Trail West in Buena Vista, Colorado.
Brooks is the son Greg and Naomi Brooks, both of Ridgetop, Tenn. He and his wife, Sarah Ryan Brooks, were married on May 2, 2009 and are the parents of Elsie Grace, Elijah Harper, and Gideon Ryan.
