Union falls straight sets to Lady Bucs, Huguley gets 2000th assist

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team fell in straight sets Friday  evening at Christian Brothers University.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • CBU took a commanding lead in the first set rattling off six straight points to open up the match.
  • Union got themselves into the match making the score 10-6 with the Lady Bucs still on top.
  • CBU held the momentum finishing out the first set on an 8-2 run and on to a final score of 25-10.
  • Union got their first lead of the match in the opening points of the second set when they worked themselves to a 4-3 lead.
  • CBU quickly regained the lead with an 8-2 run. The Lady Bucs continued that pace closing out the set with a second 8-2 run to take the second set 25-17.
  • The Lady Bulldogs fell behind in the third set 6-2 but work they back to a 12-11 lead.
  • Both teams traded back and forth points until CBU led 23-22 and scored the final two points to close out the sweep.
STAT OF THE MATCH
  • Hannah Huguley recorded her 2,000th career assist in the match after coming into the contest only three away from the milestone.
 
POSTMATCH STATS
  • Deja Moorer led the way in kills for the second straight match with nine in the contest.
  • Hannah Huguley recorded 20 assists in the match for her 16th match this season with 20+ assists.
  • Huguley also recorded four service aces in the match for her highest total of the season and tying a team high on the season.
